The Leica M3 Early Silver Chrome (factory code 10150/IGEMO), introduced in 1954, is the first Leica M-series rangefinder and established the bayonet mount still used today. This example falls within the initial production run of 233,209 units manufactured between 1954 and 1966. The camera features the original dual-stroke film advance, separate viewfinder and rangefinder windows, and the distinctive early “M3” engraving on the top plate. Its mechanical construction centers on a precision die-cast alloy body with a horizontal cloth focal-plane shutter offering speeds from 1 to 1/1000 s plus B. Cosmetic condition rated A- with only light signs of use.
