The Leica Summicron-M 50mm f/2 “50 Jahre” is a limited-edition lens produced in 2004 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original 1954 Summicron. It employs the classic 6-element/4-group Double Gauss optical design, essentially a refined version of the 1969 “Type 4” formula with high-index glass. Built in Wetzlar with engraved “50 Jahre” markings and special serial numbering, only 500 units were made in black paint. This example retains crisp aperture and focus rings with minimal brassing.
