The Elmar-C 90mm f/4 was designed as the long lens of the compact CL system, in M bayonet, and Leitz built it between 1973 and 1977 in serial blocks covering fewer than 48,600 lenses. Four elements in four groups, a ten-blade diaphragm, Series 5.5 filters and 270 grams make it the lightest 90 in the M range, focusing to one metre. It mounts and couples on M bodies, where its modest speed buys a slim barrel and clean, even rendering.
