The Leica M3 Single Stroke, introduced in 1954 as the first M-series rangefinder, features a 0.91× magnification viewfinder with automatic parallax-corrected bright-line frames for 50 mm, 90 mm and 135 mm lenses. This silver chrome example carries the factory single-stroke advance mechanism introduced in 1957. Renowned for its precision die-cast body and exceptionally quiet horizontal cloth focal-plane shutter, the M3 established the Leica M bayonet mount and remains the most produced M camera, with over 220,000 units made between 1954 and 1966.
