The Leica IIIg Kanto Repainted Black Paint (factory code GOOEF, 1957) is a rare official Leica Japan refinished example of the final screw-mount rangefinder. Internally identical to standard production IIIg, it features the 50 mm f/2 Summicron rigid lens in rigid mount (6 elements in 4 groups, Double Gauss type) or optional 50 mm f/3.5 Elmar (4 elements in 3 groups, Tessar type). The GOOEF batch is among the scarcest factory black-paint variants, with only a few dozen units documented.
