The Leica II of 1932 was the first Leica with a built-in coupled rangefinder, Oskar Barnack's design and the pattern every later screw-mount Leica followed. Production ran to 1948 and came to 36,936 black bodies, 15,573 chrome and four gold plated. Black paint cameras carry lacquered and nickel-plated brass fittings over an aluminium body, with speeds from 1/20 to 1/500. It is paired with the nickel Elmar 5cm f/3.5, the four-element collapsible that was the standard Leica lens of the period.
