The Summarex was Leitz's fastest long lens of the screw-mount era, a 7 element, 5 group design begun by Max Berek in 1936 and sold from 1943 to 1960 under the code SOOCX. It is a substantial optic, roughly 800 grams, taking E58 filters, focusing to one metre and stopping down through a 17 blade diaphragm that keeps the aperture close to circular. Chrome accounts for the great majority of production, 4,066 lenses against only 276 in black.
