Leitz's first postwar 35mm for the screw-mount Leica, the Summaron f/3.5 carried the code SOONC and was made in screw thread from 1946 to 1960. Six elements in four groups, a ten-bladed click-stop diaphragm stopping down to f/22, a 64 degree diagonal field and one metre close focus; it takes A36 slip-on or E39 screw filters and weighs about 195 grams in its chrome mount. Compact and evenly drawn across the frame, it is the natural wide angle for a Leica III body.
