Version 2 of the 35mm Summilux-M, order code 11870 in black, was produced from 1967 to 1995 in about 28,350 lenses. Walter Mandler's seven element, five group design gives f/1.4 with 1m close focus and E41 filters, in a light anodised barrel. This is a German-marked example rather than a Leitz Canada one. Later version 2 lenses drop the infinity lock of the earliest barrels, and the whole version is now valued for its softer, glowing rendering wide open.
