This is a chrome M3 stripped and refinished in black after it left the factory, not one of the 1,320 bodies Leitz itself painted black between 1959 and 1967. An aftermarket repaint gives the look of a black M3 and, over brass plates, wears in much the same way, but it is a refinish and is valued as such rather than as factory black. The camera underneath is a standard M3 of 1955, so a double stroke body with the 0.91x finder and 50, 90 and 135mm framelines.
