J.H. Dallmeyer of London built the Oscilo-Rareac Anastigmat 80mm f/1.9 not for photography but for recording cathode ray tube traces, and it is engraved for a close working range around 1:1 to 1:0.5 rather than for infinity. Like the firm's other recording optics it was made in very small numbers for instrument builders, and few left the laboratories. Adapted to a camera it gives low contrast, luminous highlights and the strongly modelled circular background that has made Dallmeyer's specialist lenses collectible.
