Kinoptik of Paris built the Apochromat Focale line as cine objectives, and the 50mm f/2 is the focal length most often seen from it. Apochromatic correction was unusual in a lens of this speed and period, and it is what gives the Kinoptik its reputation for clean, unfringed detail on the plane of focus set against backgrounds that fall away soft and rounded. Made for a cine mount, this example has been converted to Leica M for use on a rangefinder body.
