Between 1969 and 1979 Leitz built the third 50mm Summicron, catalogued 11817 and known to collectors as the high leg for its tall, slim barrel. Black anodised aluminium replaced chromed brass and cut the weight sharply, while the six-element formula that succeeded the rigid's seven elements brought noticeably higher contrast. Minimum focus came down to 0.7m for the first time on a Leitz fifty. Fewer than 44,029 were made before the 1979 redesign replaced it.
