The Leica Elcan 2-inch f/2 is a rare military reconnaissance lens produced by Ernst Leitz Canada under the Elcan designation for U.S. Army contracts in the 1960s. It employs a modified Double Gauss optical design with 6 elements in 4 groups, optimized for high-resolution aerial photography on 5-inch film at f/2. Its exceptional contrast and minimal distortion made it a benchmark for low-light reconnaissance optics during the Cold War era. Extremely scarce in civilian hands.
