Product Description

Ernst Leitz Canada built the Elcan lenses at Midland, Ontario under military and government contract rather than for the camera trade; the name is a contraction of Ernst Leitz Canada. The 2 inch f/2 belongs to that programme, supplied in a plain barrel to the equipment it was specified for and never catalogued for sale to photographers. Leitz Canada work of this kind was made in small numbers, and cells that survive with their original Canadian engraving reach the open market only occasionally.
