Walter Mandler's Elmarit-R 135mm f/2.8, order number 11211, ran from 1968 to 1998 and reached fewer than 50,800 lenses, the long-serving short telephoto of the R system. Five elements in four groups sit in a 93 by 67mm barrel taking E55 filters, focusing to 1.5m and closer with the ELPRO 4, at 730g. The three-cam version is the universal one, coupling to the Leicaflex SL and SL2 as well as every R body. Output fell to a few hundred lenses a year after 1991.
