The D-Flash 40, catalogue number 55105, is Hasselblad's own dedicated unit for bodies with automatic TTL/OTF flash control, reading light reflected off the film during the exposure instead of estimating from a separate sensor. Its round metal reflector is shaped for the square 6x6 frame, so illumination falls off evenly into all four corners rather than favouring a horizontal rectangle, and it adjusts for different lenses or lifts away for bare-bulb work. The head tilts and swivels, and ready and confirmation signals appear in the finder.
