The Leica M5 Silver Chrome 3-Lug, introduced in 1971, represents the first Leica M model with built-in TTL metering via a pivoting CDS cell. Produced in limited numbers until 1973, the 3-lug variant is the rarest configuration, featuring the original Leica-specific bayonet lugs before standardization to the universal M bayonet. This example retains the original 50mm f/2 Summicron-M lens with its classic 6-element 5-group Double Gauss optical formula.
