The second version of the Elmarit-R 19mm f/2.8, made from 1990, is a wholly different lens from the 1975 original: twelve elements in ten groups, focusing to 0.3m, with a built-in turret carrying neutral density, yellow-green, orange and KB12 blue filters and a rectangular clip-on hood. It weighs about 560g and stays rectilinear into the corners, which is why it became the R system's architectural wide. More than 5,900 were built up to 2009.
