Betriebskameras were Leicas that Leitz built for its own use and never offered for sale. In place of a production serial they were engraved Betriebsk. with a short works number on the top plate and repeated underneath, and they served inside the factory for testing lenses and accessories, for photographing works events and for putting cameras into engineers' hands. Most known examples are late screw-mount and M bodies, and surviving numbers are thought to run only to the hundreds. This is the flash-synchronised IIIf pattern.
