The red scale Elmar is the coated postwar form of Leitz's collapsible 5cm f/3.5, made in Leica screw mount from 1951 to 1959; the 1952-53 batches alone came to 37,150 lenses. Four elements in three groups on the Tessar pattern, a ten-blade diaphragm, A36 fitting, one metre minimum focus and 125g. It is paired here with the VALOO, Leitz's clamp-on A36 shade with an aperture-setting ring that reaches the Elmar's awkward front lever from outside the hood.
