The Leicavit M is Leica's trigger-wind baseplate for M film cameras. Fitted in place of the ordinary bottom plate, it advances the film through a folding lever worked by the right hand, so a sequence can be shot without lowering the camera, and the extra mass under the body helps hold it steady at slow speeds. Leitz had built the same idea for the screw-mount IIIf and IIIg from 1950. This is the silver chrome finish, the standard match for chrome M bodies.
