The Leica M3 early double-stroke, produced 1954-56 with factory black repaint, represents one of the first 13,000 units of the landmark bayonet-mount rangefinder. Equipped with the 50 mm f/2 Summicron rigid (Type 1) featuring a 6-element 5-group Double Gauss optical formula, it established the M-system’s mechanical precision. This example retains the original dual-stroke film advance and distinctive early finder with 0.91× magnification. Black paint finish applied at the Leitz factory.
