The Leica M4 (factory code 10400) is a 1967–1975 rangefinder camera featuring a 0.72× viewfinder with 35/50/90/135 mm frame lines and the improved rapid-wind lever of the M4 series. This silver chrome example is finished in classic Leica chrome over brass top and base plates. Internally it retains the original high-precision rangefinder mechanism with 69.25 mm effective base length. The camera accepts all Leica M-mount lenses; when paired with a Leitz Elmar 50 mm f/2.8 (4 elements in 3 groups, Tessar type) or Summicron 50 mm f/2 (6 elements in 4 groups, Double Gauss), it delivers the mechanical and optical synergy that defined professional 35 mm photography of the era.
