The 28mm Summicron-M ASPH was Leica's first f/2 lens at this focal length: nine elements in six groups with aspherical correction, roughly 270g, an E46 filter thread and a 0.7m close limit. Order number 11661 is the silver chrome finish, catalogued alongside the black 11604 and the later of the two to appear. Fewer than 5,500 first-version 28mm Summicrons of all finishes had been made by 2006. Contrast is high and the field even from full aperture, with no bloom at the edges.
