Leica's a la carte programme opened at Photokina in 2004 and let each M7 be ordered to specification: silver chrome, black chrome or black paint, a 0.58, 0.72 or 0.85 finder, the frameline combination, lever or knob rewind, plain or script top plate and the body covering. Cameras were configured by the customer and assembled individually in Wetzlar rather than run in batches. Function is unchanged from the catalogue M7, with aperture priority exposure and mechanical 1/60 and 1/125s backup speeds.
