The 35mm Summilux-M Aspherical, code 11873, carried two hand-ground aspherical surfaces and was built only from 1991 to 1994, with sources giving figures from about 2,000 to 4,000 lenses. Walter Watz's nine element, five group design focuses to 0.7m and takes E46 filters. Leica supplied it in black finish only. This example has been refinished in silver chrome by Kanto Camera in Japan, so the chrome is an aftermarket repaint rather than a factory finish that Leica ever offered.
