The Leica Summar Rigid 50mm f/2 Nickel is a pre-war screw-mount lens produced 1933–1939, featuring a 6-element in 4-group modified Double Gauss optical design. Nickel-plated brass barrel with rigid non-collapsible mount, it was the direct successor to the f/2.5 Elmar and predecessor to the Summicron. Its high-speed formula delivered exceptional central sharpness for the era while introducing the characteristic “Summar glow” at wider apertures.
