Leica introduced the Summarit-M range in 2007 to sit below the Summicron, and the 50mm f/2.5 is order number 11644. Six elements in four groups, E39 filters, 0.8m minimum focus and 230g, with the 6-bit bayonet coding that digital M bodies read to identify the lens. It stayed in the catalogue until 2014, when the f/2.4 Summarit replaced it. Rendering is clean and contrasty from full aperture in a barrel short enough not to intrude on the finder.
