This Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 has been refinished in silver chrome by Kanto Camera in Japan. Leitz supplied the lens only in black anodised finish between 1966 and 1975, so the silver is an aftermarket conversion rather than a factory variant. The optics are the original double-aspherical design: six elements in four groups with two hand-ground aspherical surfaces, a 16-blade diaphragm from f/1.2 to f/16, 1m close focus and Series 8 filtration through the clamp-on hood. Reported production runs from about 1,757 to 2,450.
