Leitz introduced the 35mm f/2.8 Summaron in 1958 as a faster replacement for the f/3.5, six elements in four groups in a chrome mount taking E39 or A42 filters. This is the goggled SIMWO version, number 11106: the spectacles convert the M3's 50mm frameline into a 35mm view on a camera that has no 35mm frameline of its own, and they bring minimum focus down to 0.65m. Bayonet production ran to about 30,400 against only 5,289 screw-mount lenses.
