The second version of the 35mm Summicron-M is the six-element, four-group lens Walter Mandler drew to replace the eight-element in 1969, and fewer than 12,400 were made before the third version took over in 1971. It focuses to 0.7 metres, takes E39 or Series VII filters, carries a ten-blade diaphragm and weighs about 170 grams. Most were built at Leitz Canada, with Wetzlar-marked lenses much less often seen. It is the compact route into pre-aspherical 35mm Summicron rendering.
