The Elmarit-M 2,8/28mm appeared in the middle of 1969 and had a much less protruding rear element compared to the predecessor. A further difference from the previously build lens with the same name was that the optical design now only consisted of eight elements, instead of nine, and the new design should have a slight increase in optical performance.
