An early black paint example of the second 50mm Summilux, from the years just after the redesign, when barrel details were still settling between the first and second versions. Optically it is Walter Mandler's seven element, five group design with a twelve blade diaphragm, E43 filters and one metre close focus, the lens Leitz built from 1961 to 1991 in 43,505 examples. Black paint from this early period is far less often seen than chrome, and is closely studied by collectors.
