Leitz's soft focus portrait lens, made in screw mount from the mid-1930s to 1942 in fewer than 3,500 examples. Four elements in three groups are deliberately left with uncorrected spherical aberration, so a bright core sits inside a halo that tightens as the lens is stopped down. A removable centre spot filter blocks the sharp central rays and pushes the effect further, which is why the aperture ring carries two scales, red for use with the spot and black without. It takes E48 filters and focuses to 1m.
