The third version Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8, order number 11804, was built in Midland, Canada from 1979 to 1993, 17,116 lenses in all. Walter Mandler's eight elements in six groups sit behind an eight blade diaphragm in a much slimmer barrel than the Wetzlar original, focusing to 0.7 m. Unlike the first version it has no deep rear element, so it clears the meter cell of every metered M. Collectors know it as the tiger claw, and it is the last pre-aspherical Elmarit-M 28.
