Voigtlaender's original Nokton f/1.5 was the fast standard lens for the Prominent rangefinder, and the great majority were built in the Prominent's own bayonet. A small number left Braunschweig in Leica screw mount, and those L39 lenses are the ones collectors pursue, and they surface far less often than the Prominent version. The rendering is the attraction: warm colour, a luminous softness at full aperture and a field that swirls toward the edges, tightening from f/2.8.
