The Leica Elmar-M 50mm f/2.8 (factory code ELMOM), introduced in 1958, is a collapsible rangefinder lens built around the classic 4-element/3-group Tessar optical formula. Designed by Max Berek, it succeeded the earlier screw-mount Elmar with improved M-bayonet mechanics while retaining the compact folding design. Its modest production of 74,000 units makes well-preserved examples increasingly scarce. This A- condition copy retains crisp aperture and focus action with minimal external wear.
