Built for Leica by Schneider-Kreuznach and made from 2001 to 2009 in only a little over 420 examples, the Super-Elmarit-R 15mm f/2.8 ASPH is the most ambitious wide angle of the R system: thirteen elements in ten groups with an aspherical surface, 111 degrees across the diagonal, a fixed hood, and a built-in turret carrying neutral density, yellow-green, orange and blue conversion filters. It focuses to 18cm and weighs 710g. ROM contacts pass lens data to the later R bodies.
