This is the silver chrome 28mm Summicron-M ASPH, order number 11661, carrying the six-bit code milled into the bayonet flange so that digital M bodies identify the lens and apply the matching correction profile. Optically nothing changes: nine elements in six groups with aspherical correction, an E46 filter thread, about 270g and focusing to 0.7m. Leica built fewer than 5,500 first-version 28mm Summicrons of all finishes up to 2006, the silver chrome being the later and less often ordered of the two finishes.
