Of 58,735 Leica I Model A cameras built from 1925, only 1,330 left Wetzlar with the f/2.5 Hektor, against 56,548 with the Elmar, 713 with the Elmax and 144 with the Anastigmat. The lens is fixed to the body and matched to it at the factory, so a Hektor camera is a Hektor camera for life. There is no rangefinder; focusing is by scale and the shutter runs 1/25 to 1/500 s plus Z. It is the scarcest of the standard Model A variants.
