The Leica M2 black paint, produced 1958-1967, represents a pivotal rangefinder with 0.72x viewfinder, 35/50/90 mm framelines and mechanical self-timer. This example is fitted with the earliest rigid Elmar 35mm f/3.5 (1958-1960), a 6-element 4-group Tessar-type design derived from the pre-war Leitz Elmar formula. The camera is equipped with the original Leicavit rapid winder for motorized film advance. Black paint models remain among the rarest factory configurations, with surviving examples under 2,000 units.
