The Primoplan 50mm f/1.5 is the fastest and least often seen member of Meyer-Optik's Primoplan family from Goerlitz, a five element, four group design first listed in 1936 and originally supplied in rangefinder Contax mount. A fourteen blade diaphragm and the simple fast construction give the glowing wide open rendering and busy background separation the Primoplans are collected for. This example carries an aftermarket conversion to Leica M mount carried out outside the factory, not a Meyer product in M.
