Leica offered the 0.85x finder on the M6 classic only at the very end of its run, from 1998, before the M6 TTL took over the line; the great majority of the 158,309 M6 classics built between 1984 and 2003 carry the 0.72x finder. The higher magnification gives a longer effective rangefinder base and framelines from 35 to 135mm, which favours 50mm and longer lenses. Mechanically it is the familiar M6: painted zinc plates, cloth shutter and two-arrow LED metering. 82,831 M6 classics were black.
