The eight-element Summicron, Walter Mandler's eight elements in six groups, was Leitz's original 35mm f/2 for the M and was produced between 1958 and 1969. This is the German-built black paint version with the brass mount, the earliest and rarest form of the lens; paint over brass wears to yellow metal rather than bright alloy, so no two age alike. Otherwise it is the standard lens, E39 filters and about 150 grams, without the M3 goggles.
