Leica marked the year 2000 with a black paint version of the aspherical 35mm Summicron-M, order number 11611, built in an edition of 2,000 lenses. Optically it is the standard ASPH: seven elements in five groups with one aspherical surface, an eight blade diaphragm, E39 filters and 0.7m minimum focus. What sets it apart is the finish, real black paint with matching black paint caps rather than the usual black anodising, a surface that thins and brasses with handling instead of staying uniform.
