Leitz's first 35mm Summicron used an eight element, six group formula that collectors still prize for its even field and its gentle tonality. Walter Mandler designed it; production ran from 1958 to 1969 and came to 21,492 bayonet lenses, 9,557 of them carrying M3 spectacles, alongside 577 in screw mount. It takes E39 filters and weighs about 150 grams. This one has been refinished in black by Kanto Camera in Tokyo, an aftermarket repaint rather than a factory black finish.
