The Leica Summicron-M 50mm f/2 Version 4 “Tiger Claw” is a 6-element in 4-group Double Gauss design produced 1979–1985. This final pre-ASPH variant retains the classic optical formula introduced in 1956 yet features revised coatings and mechanical coupling for the M bayonet. The distinctive “Tiger Claw” focusing mount with its deeply knurled, two-finger tab is the rarest factory configuration of the v4, manufactured in limited numbers before Leica standardized the simpler plastic-rimmed tab.
