The fifth version Summicron-M, in production since 1994, keeps the six element, four group optics of its predecessor but adds a built-in telescoping hood and drops the focusing tab. Order number 11816 is the silver chrome finish, in which the barrel is lacquered brass rather than anodised alloy: about 335g against 240g for the black lens. It focuses to 0.7m, the diaphragm has eight blades, and filters screw into an internal E39 thread. Silver chrome runs are shorter than the black ones.
