Before the aspherical redesigns, the 35mm Summilux was this: seven elements in five groups drawn by Walter Mandler, made from 1967 to 1995 in a total near 28,350 lenses. Order code 11870 is the black anodised version, and this one was assembled in Germany rather than at Leitz Canada. It focuses to 1m, takes Series VII filters inside the 12504 clamp-on hood and weighs about 245g. The pre-aspherical rendering, soft and flaring at f/1.4, is why these are still bought.
