From 1967 Leitz finished the Super-Angulon-M 21mm f/3.4 in all black, replacing the chrome barrel of the first years while the optics stayed as Schneider-Kreuznach computed them: eight elements in four groups, f/3.4 to f/22, Series VII or E48 filtration and 301 g on the scale. Production across both finishes ran from 1963 to 1980 and came to fewer than 5,970 lenses. From 1971 the barrel was cut away at the rear so the lens would clear the meter arm of the M5 and CL.
